FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are all the presentations Adrian offers a show?
The Stage show is more of a show with an evangelistic message. This is a bridging event. That is why we have a variety of events to meet different outreach needs. Be sure to see our list of Events. The other presentations Adrian offers are in more of a seminar format with lots and lots of entertaining demonstrations and illustrations. However, any message emphasis, whether it be reason for believing the Resurrection or Does God Exist, can be tailored to be in a show format or an educational seminar format. Whatever your needs and vision for ministry require, AVVIM will meet.
Does the event give an invitation to become a follower of Christ?
AVVIM is primarily committed to the end of seeing people come to Christ. In The Stage Show where the gospel is presented and Adrian’s personal testimony is shared, the intention is to introduce people to their need for Christ. Most often, if a stand alone event, Adrian will give an invitation to pray in faith and respond to Christ’s call for salvation. This is also where the local church or ministry can follow up those in attendance through Adrian’s response card.
In Searching the Supernatural, depending on the event/audience/host, about 50% of the time is an invitation given. Searching the Supernatural is intended to be more pre-evangelistic offering more reasons for the credibility of the historic Christian faith.
Is there an alter call?
AVVIM is not opposed to alter calls. However, our evangelistic events like Sensory Revolution are aimed to reach the un-churched in such a way that people would be integrated into the local church as new followers of Christ. In other words, we are about disciples not decisions.
Since our culture is private when it comes to spiritual matters, AVVIM finds it more effective to invite people to indicate their response to the gospel via a response card. This allows all to be honest; those who made commitments boldly to make the same response had an alter call been given; more importantly, it gives those individuals who may have responded but would not come forward and those who did not respond but are still seeking an opportunity to connect with the local church to “water” the seeds planted. It’s really not about preference but being sensitive and truly intentional about “outreach.”
Do we need a theater in order to have an event?
No! Although Sensory Revolution is best in a theater, ALL of our events can be done in banquet halls, churches, gyms, etc. (Please discuss with Adrian before planning outdoor events) It is highly recommended that if you have flat level floored seating you provide an adequately sized platform or stage at least 2ft high (3ft is best).
Can we sell tickets?
Yes! As a matter of fact, we encourage you to do so although it is not required. We understand the hesitation to “sell” the gospel. However, that is not at all what ticket selling is about. Although a benefit, selling tickets is not about making up costs either.
A good reason to sell tickets to our events (especially Sensory Revolution) is because of the culture we live in. People expect to pay for something that is good. If it’s free, people are not committed to coming nor is the event perceived as high quality or valuable. You will find that when events are ticketed, more people who are more committed to coming will actually come. They are not paying for the gospel they are paying to see a great show!
Tickets also enable your people to invite their friends. If an un-churched person is given a ticket that says $15 on it, that’s value and they will most likely come. If they are simply given a flyer advertising a free event, they are less likely to come. Remember, the event is not cheap. People have paid high prices to see Adrian on a cruise ship or at a secular venue. Why give the perception that they are getting anything less?
It’s interesting to point out that those who are more opposed to selling tickets to any church event will often pass the plate for an offering. Let’s be sensitive to the un-churched, but lets also give them the quality and professionalism they expect.
How much does it cost?
For Adrian Van Vactor to come to your area our honorarium ranges from $950 – $2000 plus expenses which include ground/air transportation, food, and lodging during the day(s) of the event(s) and travel days before and after.
AVVIM never wants finances to be a hindrance for any ministry leader to utilize our outreach events. This is a full time ministry for Adrian and he derives his living income from honorariums, which frees and enables him to serve on the mission field overseas when invited. See Partnership
However, every event is customizable and honorariums flexible to meet your needs.
